Common questions
How many weeks’ redundancy pay do I get?
It depends on your age in each year you worked. You get half a week’s pay for each full year worked under 22, one week for each year aged 22 to 40, and one and a half weeks for each year aged 41 or over, up to a maximum of 20 years of service.
What is the maximum statutory redundancy payment?
The maximum is £22,530.00 in Great Britain. That comes from the 20-year service limit combined with the £751.00 weekly pay cap and the maximum 30 weeks' pay the formula can produce.
Why is the maximum 30 weeks?
Because service is capped at 20 years and the highest rate is one and a half weeks per year. Twenty years all worked aged 41 or over gives 20 × 1.5 = 30 weeks, which is the most the statutory formula can ever award.
